Mentor, father and inspiration - I'm so proud to announce the completion of the The Graphic eye of Tamotsu Yagi.  This book gives a glimpse of selected works and design process by Tamotsu Yagi following his designs from 1984 and also includes conversations with other creatives on the topic of collecting and designing across may mediums.

"Mitsuke" - to have and develop the eye.  This is one of the many lessons and skills I learned as an apprentice under my father.  It started early in life as he always found ways to include me in his design pursuits and I always tagged along... for instance, the search for a leaf to use as part of an identity design... but not just any leaf, the perfect one to suit the design.  He showed me that what you find, or in Japanese "Mitsukeru" IS also design.

I received the beautiful new publication of Federico De Vera's extraordinary work for my birthday
from Kelly. Amazingly, to my surprise, Federico had personalized the wrapping with a cut out of
a horse, which I like to think he chose as a pairing with Chariots on Fire's image of a horse-drawn
chariot. Nonetheless, Federico's eye & mastery for storytelling has always been an inspiration to me.

These images of fireworks by Pierre Le Hors - I LOVE. Although in black and white, it reminds
me of warm, colorful summer nights in Japan.

 We can't wait to get our hands on Marian Bantjes's new book "I Wonder", which she calls a "feast for visual gluttons". We especially love her discussion on astronomy, illustrated with images from the Griffiths Observatory's timeline made with celestial-themed jewelry. Looking forward to the feast!

I can't wait for the delivery of the new book by Maia Adams, Fashion Jewelry: Catwalk and Couture. The book gives insight into the methods, inspirations and works of a new generation of jewelry designers. Some of the jewelers featured are Florian, Scott Wilson, Bless, Ligia Dias and Chariots on Fire favorite, Natalia Brilli.
