Whitby jet is a 180 million-year-old fossilized wood that has formed into a young coal. It is primarily associated with Victorian mourning jewelry popularized by Queen Victoria.
Jacqueline Cullen, based in London, England, is one of the few designers still working with Whitby jet. Jacqueline celebrates the organic and ancient beauty of this mysterious material with contemporary design. Each earring represents the unique piece of jet from which it was carved.
