11 commissioned exhibitions, carefully selected and uniquely presented, each with its own story: 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021, when an offsite dual exhibition of his one-of-a-kind ceramics coincided with the launch of the Makoto Kagoshima × Chariots on Fire × Christopher Farr rug collection. That success led directly to the Makoto Kagoshima × Chariots on Fire × Christopher Farr textile and wallpaper collection. The next iteration of Makoto Kagoshima × Chariots on Fire × Christopher Farr arrives in 2027.
“What I create for Chariots embodies Los Angeles,” says Kagoshima. The gallerist who discovered his work and brought him to Los Angeles for his first U.S. exhibition proudly carries that provenance forward—placing this piece at the very heart of his origin story with Chariots on Fire.
