In October 2026, Chariots on Fire took residency at the Christopher Farr showroom at 748 N La Cienega Blvd in Los Angeles, transforming the space into an architectural dialogue between ceramic surfaces, textile warmth, and custom design possibilities.
What was initially planned as a four-day residency resonated with local collectors and the design community that Christopher Farr invited us to extend the residency by an additional week.
From Personal Collection to Architectural Scale
The core inspiration for the residency originated when Christopher Farr invited gallery curator Yagi to collaborate on a new vision for spatial textiles. Yagi turned to a single, treasured ceramic plate within her personal collection commissioned from the artist. Recognizing the organic movement in Makoto Kagoshima’s hand, she envisioned translating the fluid, vine-like tendrils and delicate botanical motifs of that original plate onto a grander, architectural canvas.
Working directly with Makoto, Yagi identified and selected specific blossom configurations, line weights, and colorways tailored deliberately for interiors and residential spaces. Christopher Farr then brought these intricate motifs to life in hand-woven fiber, creating a seamless harmony between Kagoshima’s hand-formed ceramic and the textile surfaces surrounding them.

A Teaser for "Make It Your Own"
Beyond celebrating Kagoshima’s masterworks, the residency served as an exclusive preview of our upcoming custom rug launch. Designed specifically for trade professionals and discerning collectors, the upcoming Make It Your Own program will allow designers to configure bespoke rug dimensions, runner scales, botanical blossom combinations, and color palettes to suit custom interiors. Launching Spring 2027.
Under the ambient light of the La Cienega showroom, set against natural materials — wool, silk and raw wood, the exhibition offered a rare glimpse into how these tactile, elements transform a living environment.

Acquiring Works from the Exhibition Archive
Following the conclusion of the extended residency, a select group of singular, hand-etched Makoto Kagoshima ceramic pieces from the showcase has returned to the Chariots on Fire archive.
Because each creation by Makoto Kagoshima is completely unrepeatable, acquisitions and provenance details are available exclusively by direct gallery inquiry.
