“Guided by ancient slipware traditions, alchemist-potter Tenshin Juba creates modern, functional, and decorative ceramics from his home-studio in the quiet mountainside of Kobe, Japan. This captivating set of three Double-Sided Plates highlights his rare, multi-surface application process, where complex, abstract graphics are painted fluidly across both the face and the reverse side of the clay forms. Tenshin gathers natural raw materials from his immediate landscape—including chestnut husks and mineral-rich rocks—turning them into liquid mineral glazes that he sweeps across the shallow surfaces with pure, kinetic gestures.
